Welcome to our caring business!

Hello and a warm welcome to you!  I would like to introduce this very caring and loving business to you.

We offer our services to the whole island community who need help to remain self-sufficient and independent in their own home.

From experience we know that people who require help and cannot get outside as often as they would like crave social contact.  We have often heard them say  'People are just too busy to pass the time of day with us.'

At Community Spirited we are all first and foremost caring people, we have people trained to management level and those who have achieved other levels of qualifications including NVQ's in care.

As the owner/manager of this business I am proud to say that I achieved an 'Outstanding achievement award' from the Isle Of Wight College for my commitment to achieving the Registered Managers Award whilst working as a private carer and looking after my family.

We are all dedicated to making people's lives more fulfilling. Our aim is to achieve social prosperity for everyone.

Our business is all about helping people to stay in their own homes by giving them a helping hand. We aim to fill a void in their life by giving them an opportunity to go on outings and to enjoy quality time inside and outside their home, with the whole session focused on them.  We aim to increase challenge and new learning opportunities.  It is important to continue using the skills and abilities which have been achieved throughout their life for as long as possible.  New skills will build up confidence and bring personal meaning and significance into each and every clients life.

We know that age should not be seen as an illness but as a time for personal growth, even with disabilities - life should be all about moving forwards - we can help you achieve this.

Our aim is to create a community spirit like the good old days when people looked out for one another, will you allow us to look out for you?

If a person is left alone with little or no company, social skills will diminish.  We acknowledge the importance of social interaction, prolonged inactivity can lead to Physical and Psychological ill health.

Here are just a few Physical benefits from using our service.  An increase in muscle strength, improved mobility, lower blood pressure and an increase in appetite. It can lead to a reduction in falls by improving balance, posture and co-ordination.

The Psychological advantages are:- an increase in smiling, talking, laughing and an improved memory. We have found that people are able to express themselves better.  People seem more alert, awareness improves.  We have also found our clients have higher concentration levels.

Overall we have found that daily living function improves.

The Social advantages are - people feel empowered, they form friendships and people on the outside looking in can see a more positive and active image of our older generation and people who struggle to socialise (for whatever reason).  People start to realise their importance in the wider community - we know there are alot of people who would benefit from a service like ours - and we know for sure our lives would be more fulfilled if they allow us into their lives.

People who lead an active life (mentally and physically) report a greater sense of well-being and report fewer health problems.

Many of our clients find out about us from their family. When families are based on the mainland they naturally worry about their relatives, especially if they live alone on the island - Community Spirited will gladly take on the responsibility of remaining in contact with them,
this allows us to give them reassuring feedback on a regular basis, which in turn will give them  peace of mind.  We have cared for people where their family live on the mainland, their family have offered to give a reference at anytime to let you know what we did for them.

Here is one special feature of our business; we offer an emotional support line, where our clients can call a mobile number should  they feel anxious or in need of someone to talk to.

Please use the contact details on page 10 for any enquiries.

Thank you!

Jane Goddard - Manager of Community Spirited.
